BHC Goaltending

Professional Goaltending Coaches

At Boulder Hockey Club, our goaltending training is lead by Timm Lorenz (Director of Goaltending), Mark Sample, and Frank Urban.

The main areas of development are skating, stance development, recoveries, and ADP (angle, depth, and body positioning).

Weekly Goalie Sessions

During the season BHC hosts weekly goaltending skill sessions (for no extra cost) for all Boulder goalies.

These sessions run every Monday afternoon throughout the season and are broken out into 2 separate age-specific groups: one hour for goalies ages 12 and younger and one hour for goalies ages 13 and older.

These sessions focus on building the foundation of an elite goaltender while also breaking down technique, skill development, save selection, and muscle memory through drill situations.

Team Practices

In addition to the weekly goaltending skill sessions, BHC goalies will have a goalie coach attend at least 2 team practices per month throughout the season.

This will not only provide the goalie coaches an extra opportunity to teach concepts but also ensure the goalies are continuing to work on the areas that are taught during the goalie sessions and can stress the importance of proper practice habits.

8U Goalie Introduction

At Boulder Hockey Club, we take pride in developing our goalies correctly, starting at 8U. Our dedicated BHC goaltending coaches attend our 8U practices to help interested players try the position. Gear is provided, and we help our young players to gear up and hit the ice where we teach them the basics of playing goal.
