Season Fees and Refund Policy

What Fees Cover

Program fees are set to cover actual team costs, including ice time (practice, game, and evaluation), officials, insurance, administration, and practice jerseys and socks, plus miscellaneous expenses such as pucks, score sheets, website administration, coaching tools, and awards. Fees cover:

• A USA Hockey–certified coaching personnel, with an independent contractor payment to the head coach.
• On-ice and off-ice training.
• Instruction in team play and individual skill development.
• Coaching personnel evaluation throughout the season. An end-of-season written evaluation may be requested and will be granted.
• Access to a facility with two full-size rinks, a dedicated skill-pad rink, and 21 locker rooms. Access to certain amenities is included in program fees; others require additional payment.

Most importantly, fees support an opportunity to gain life experience in a competitive environment and build friendships that last.

Fee Glossary

• Registration Fee: Payable to BHC as a player’s intent to try out and play for BHC. Never refundable.
• Season Fees / Season Dues: Payable to BHC after the player is placed on a team for the season.
• Team Fees: Assessed by each team to pay for tournaments and other team expenses and activities. Payable to the team.

A minimum payment is required at registration. The amount depends on level and type of play. Current amounts are on the BHC website and in Appendix A. Registration and payment are made through the website.

Financial Agreement

The season dues are NON-REFUNDABLE once the player is provided a roster spot on a BHC or Lady RoughRiders team. BHC offers many levels of play to accommodate all ability levels.

• Players who receive a roster spot are responsible for paying season dues in full, no exception.
• A player who has not paid season dues is ineligible to participate in practices and/or games until the outstanding balance is paid in full. This rule is enforced at the discretion of the Executive Director.
• If a player quits during the season after a roster is named, the player remains liable for all season fees and all team fees.
• BHC will not sign a financial release for any player who is not in good financial standing.

Payment Schedule

Season dues do not include team fees, including but not limited to coach travel and accommodations, tournament fees, team outings and events, and other unique team expenses. Team fees are determined after team formation and parent meetings.

• Option 1 — Net balance paid in full at completion of registration.
• Option 2 — Net balance paid in installments: the first payment is due at checkout to be placed on a roster, with the remaining payments scheduled as shown in Appendix A.

Processing. A 2% processing fee applies to credit card payments. There is no additional fee for ACH. Balances may be paid ahead of the scheduled dates.

BHC reserves the right to deny any application for an installment payment plan, and to terminate any approved plan, in its sole discretion, at any time. On termination, all amounts owed become immediately due and payable.

Team Fees

Each team sets team fees based on its expected expenses. Each player is responsible for paying team fees regardless of tournament participation or other team activity. Each team may set its own payment schedule.

If team fees are unpaid 15 days after the team’s final notice, the matter becomes a Boulder Hockey Club issue and may result in loss of practice and game participation. If a player quits during the season, the player remains liable for team fees.

Insufficient Funds

If a charge attempt is unsuccessful for any reason, including insufficient funds, the account holder will be notified and has seven (7) business days to resolve it. Failure to resolve it within that period results in suspension of the affected player and a $25 late fee on the player’s account.

Failure to Pay

• Failure to pay by the due date results in immediate suspension of the affected player until all amounts owed are paid, plus a $25 late fee.
• Failure to make required payments within thirty (30) days of the due date terminates the payment plan.
• Late fees are assessed on accounts 30 or more days past due.
• An account 60 or more days past due may be forwarded to an outside collection agency. Repayment arrangements must then be made directly with the collection agency, and the account holder bears all collection costs. Referral to collections may affect the account holder’s credit.

Suspension for Nonpayment

In the event of default, the affected player is suspended immediately from all BHC activities until payment is received, practices, games, meetings, dryland, and any other team event.

Season Fees vary by team based on age and level. Season Fees listed in Appendix A of the BHC Handbook do not include additional "Team Fees" which are determined once teams are formed and include costs such as tournament registrations, coach's travel expenses, team outings, etc. These additional fees will be determined by your team manager, head coach, and treasurer once teams are formed.
