Boulder Hockey Club 12AA wins Avalanche Qualifier, headed to Quebec for second year in a row!

DENVER — The Boulder Hockey Club (BHC) 12AA High Performance team secured their spot in the prestigious 66th Annual Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a thrilling overtime victory. The Riders defeated the Littleton Hawks 3-2 in the Avalanche International Qualifier final at Magness Arena on Monday, November 24.

For the second consecutive year, the two Colorado teams battled it out in the tournament final, with Boulder once again emerging victorious in overtime. BHC will now represent the state of Colorado as the "Junior Avalanche" for two weeks in February at the prestigious international tournament, which features 12U teams from around the world.

Recap of the final match:

First Period: Alex Sosnowski netted the opening goal for Boulder, but Littleton answered to tie the game at the first intermission.

Second Period: Kellen Kendall put the Riders ahead with a goal at 3:55 of the second period.

Third Period: The Hawks pulled their goalie late in the third period and scored to tie the game with 1:51 remaining, forcing overtime.

Overtime: Liam Walters, assisted by Alex Sosnowski, scored the game-winning goal in overtime, sending the team to Quebec.

Tournament history:

The Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament has a rich history that includes many NHL players, including several from the Colorado Avalanche. Miles Wood, Samuel Girard, Martin Necas, and Jack Drury are among the current Avalanche players who have participated in the past.
