High-Performance (AA) & Futures Teams

Boulder Hockey Club takes pride in offering a hockey option for all levels of players in both Co-Ed and Girls Only teams. This includes options for those that want to travel more as well as those that prefer to play locally.

All of the Boulder RoughRider teams will train and skate out of the blue Sport Stable, a state-of-the-art facility with 2 NHL Size Ice Rinks, 1 Skill-Pad Ice Rink, Turf Fields, Basketball/Volleyball courts, and Impact Sports Fitness.

From Learn to Play to a path to AAA (Tier I) or High School Hockey, Boulder Hockey Club has an option for your child athlete. Our strong partnership with the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders Tier I for boys and our relationships with Team Colorado Girls enable Boulder Hockey Club to prepare your athlete for the next level.

The 16U AA team will compete in both the CAHA 16U AA league and the Atlantic Hockey Federation (AHF) 16U AA league, offering players a platform to showcase their skills in regional and national competitions. The season will include a minimum of 12 AHF league games plus playoffs, CAHA league games plus playoffs, select tournaments/showcases, and added scrimmages depending on schedule availability.

Under the guidance of experienced Head Coach Duncan McIntosh, the team will benefit from a comprehensive training program designed to maximize player development and performance. With three practices per week, plus additional weekend practices, players will receive specialized on-ice instruction tailored to enhance their skills and strategic understanding of the game.

Coach McIntosh brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Boulder Hockey Club. An Assistant Coach for the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders Tier 1 U16 & U15 teams last season, McIntosh holds a Level-4 USA Hockey Coach certification and has been instrumental in the development of youth hockey players for over four seasons. His background as a former RoughRiders player and NCAA Division III ice hockey athlete at Worcester State University and the University of Colorado, Boulder, provides him with unique insights into the demands and challenges of competitive hockey at various levels.

High-Performance Model

Boulder Hockey Club offers its High-Performance Model for the following Co-Ed teams: 10AA, 12AA, 14AA, and 16AA.

Our High-Performance Model is designed for the hockey player who performs at a high level and is willing to commit to a higher set of expectations, including dedicated attendance, off-ice physical training, classroom/video, and out-of-state tournaments.

Our High-Performance model will field both High-Performance AA Teams as well as Futures Teams. AA High-Performance teams will feature our top players at each level while our Futures teams will be composed primarily of (but not exclusive to) BHC’s top first-year 12U’s and 10U’s.

Atlantic Hockey Federation

In addition to playing in their local Colorado league during the season, our 12U, 14U, and 16U High Performance (AA) teams will also compete in the Atlantic Hockey Federation. The AHF offers our players a platform to showcase their skills against a broader spectrum of competition in regional and national competitions.

The number of games/weekends spent playing in AHF events will vary based on age-group and out-of-state travel guidelines.
